Our Story
Basin Pride started in 2019 as the areas only active LGBTQN+ groups banded together to provide a space of celebration for the community. With nearly 1,000 attendees, the founding organizations, PFLAG Midland/Odessa, Out In West Texas, and Permian Basin LGBTQ+, solidified a community presence here in West Texas.
With the arrival of Pride Center West Texas in 2020, Basin Pride found a new home and support in a dedicated community center focused on supporting local organizations. After a its COVID hiatus, Basin Pride returned in August of 2021 as strong as ever with a full day of vendors, entertainment, and celebration of the queer existence.
Our Founders
Serving the Permian Basin, PFLAG Midland-Odessa is the extended family of the LGBTQ community. We're made up of LGBTQ individuals, family members and allies. Because together, we're stronger.
A project to train medical, legal, mental health, and educational providers of the West Texas region in professional competencies associated with working with transgender clients, as well as to provide training in transgender affirming practices.
To enhance and sustain the health and well-being of LGBTQ persons and allies in the Permian Basin. Community, Empowerment and Advocacy.
